Makerspace Workshops
The Makerspace hosts workshops featuring different projects throughout the year.
3D Printed Cookie Cutter Workshop
Make your own custom 3D printed cookie cutter. You can print free cookie cutter designs from websites like Printables.com, but what if you want your own design? Bring your design ideas. We will use Inkscape and Tinkercad for design. The workshop costs $15 per person and is open to the public (ages 8+ with parent or guardian). 3D printed cookie cutters that don't finish printing during the workshop will be available to pick up later in the day or during the following week.

Laser Engraved Ink Stamp
Make your own custom laser engraved rubber ink stamp. Whether it's an address stamp, monogram, or other design, you can make your own stamp easily. Bring a black and white design or design idea with you. The workshop costs $25 per person and is open to the public (ages 8+ with parent or guardian).

Holiday Ornament Workshop
Did you know that you can laser engrave and cut felt? Laser cut and assemble your own custom ornament out of felt using our laser engraver. All materials are provided. The workshop costs $25 per person and is open to the public (ages 8+ with parent or guardian).

Laser Engraved LED Mirror
Light up the holidays! Laser engrave a design of your choice on a 6-inch round mirror mounted in a USB-powered lighted hardwood stand. Participants should bring their own design idea to the workshop (can be a digital photo, text, or a hand-drawn design). The workshop costs $25 per person and is open to the public (ages 8+ with parent or guardian). The 3D printed mirror frame will be pre-printed for you to save time during the workshop. Both the mirror and the hardwood stand can be engraved.

Laser Engraved Travel Mugs
Engrave a 20-oz stainless steel travel mug with a design of your choice. The workshop costs $20 per person and is open to the public (ages 8+ with parent or guardian). All materials are provided, but participants should bring their own design idea. A two-color or black and white design will turn out much better than a photograph will.

Custom Embroidery Workshop
Want to customize an item of clothing as a gift for a loved one? Learn how you can easily embroider a design of your choice on cloth. It's also an option to make an embroidered patch, if you prefer. We'll use Hatch embroidery software with our embroidery machines to create a 1 to 3 color design. Embroidery thread and backing will be provided. Cloth to make patches will also be provided, but participants should bring an article of clothing or other cloth item to embroider, if desired. Please note that our embroidery machines cannot embroider hats or sleeves easily, although attaching an embroidered patch is an option. The workshop costs $25 per person and is open to the public (ages 12+ with parent or guardian).
December 13, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
CNC Carved Wood Sign
Use our Onefinity CNC Router to carve your own custom hardwood sign. The workshop costs $100 per sign and is open to the public (ages 12+ with parent or guardian). All materials are provided for a sign up to 24" x 12", but participants should bring their own design or design idea. If you have questions about the design, you can send your design ahead of time to makerspace@corning-cc.edu. Depending on the design, CNC carving may extend later into the afternoon. If you want to make your own carved wooden sign but need to do it at a different time, you can also arrange that by email.

Laser Engraved Granite Pet Memorial
All materials provided. Please provide your own digital photo (higher resolution is
better), and any text that you want to engrave on the 12" x 12" black granite stone
slab. You can email your photo ahead of time to makerspace@corning-cc.edu if you want to verify that it will work well. The workshop costs $25 per engraved
granite memorial and is open to the public (ages 8+ with parent or guardian). This
workshop is available as needed. Please email makerspace@corning-cc.edu to schedule your engraving.

If you have an idea for a different workshop that you would like to see us host, please let us know at makerspace@corning-cc.edu. Most workshops are open to the public, but we can also schedule private custom workshops for your group for a special occasion. If you see a workshop you are interested in, but the time doesn't work for you, please ask about scheduling a workshop for an alternate time.
